Hear appeals on witness protection issues

We hear appeals against certain decisions and orders made by the Commissioner of Police about people participating in or being excluded from the witness protection program.

The witness protection program is run by NSW Police. It aims to protect the safety and welfare of Crown witnesses and others who have given information to police about criminal activities. People refused entry to the program or removed from the program can appeal to us. We must determine these appeals within seven days.

We also deal with complaints about the administration of the witness protection program. Most complaints are about ongoing operational matters and the quality of protection.
