Community services division

Our community services division is responsible for reviewing and promoting improvements in the standards of delivery of community services. They:

  • resolve, conciliate and investigate complaints about government and non-government community service providers
  • review complaint handling systems
  • provide information and training about making, handling and resolving complaints about the delivery of community services
  • review the situation of people in care and make any necessary recommendations to the relevant Minister about how the circumstances of the child or person might be improved
  • review the deaths of certain children and people with a disability and identify any ways in which those deaths could be prevented or reduced
  • monitor the delivery of community services and the implementation of recommendations for improving community services
  • coordinate the official community visitors scheme.
