Complaints
One of the core functions of the NSW Ombudsman is to handle complaints about agencies within our jurisdiction.
However our approach is to encourage people to firstly try to resolve their grievances directly with the agency concerned. We believe agencies should establish proper procedures for handling complaints and members of the public should give agencies a chance to address their concerns.
Sometimes a complainant will not be satisfied after trying to complain to the agency concerned. In these cases we will do our best to resolve the matter. This may involve just making a phone call or we may need to formally investigate the conduct of the agency.
